How to Prepare the Perfect Orange Turkey for Thanksgiving
This simple recipe creates a flavorful turkey using an orange brine that’s perfect for any holiday meal. The orange marinade, with notes of soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, and spices, infuses the turkey with a rich, citrusy flavor.
1 Oven Reynold Bags This are realy helpful to mariande and roast the turkey in less time
1 Foil paper Package In case you do not have baking bags use foil paper
1 Foil tray or Roasting Pan
Ingredients
2cuporange juiceconcentrate with pulp for extra flavor
1/4cupSoy sauce
2tablspoonKosher Salt
1Teaspoonfreshly ground black pepper
2clovesgarlic
1/2cupwhite wine
1/2cupbrown sugar
1/2cupbuttermelted
1Teaspoomgingerfresh
1TablespoonOrange zest
1tablespoonall pourpose flouronly if using Baking bags
1pieceapple
1/2headgarlic
Instructions
Blend all ingredients but the apple, halved garlic head, and flour thoroughly.
Gently separate the turkey's skin from the meat using a spoon, being careful not to tear the skin.
Pour the marinade between the skin and the meat, pushing it as far as you can with the spoon to ensure even coverage
If you’re using an oven bag, start by adding a tablespoon of flour to the bag, then shake it to distribute the flour evenly. Place the turkey inside, then pour the remaining marinade over it, ensuring it’s well-coated.
If using a roasting pan use the rest of the mariande to coat the turkey.
Quarter an apple and place it inside the cavity of the turkey, along with half a head of garlic.
After adding the apple and garlic, seal the bag or cover the roastig pan and refrigerate overnight.
Flip the bag occasionally to ensure the marinade reaches every part of the turkey. If not using a bag make sure to cover the turkey once in a while with the marinade. This simple step will give you a deliciously moist and flavorful turkey!
I would suggest marinade overnight if you d not have time marinade for at least 4 hours.
If using a roasting bag preheat your oven to 365°F. Place the turkey breast-side up on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Make a 1-inch cut at the top of the roasting bag to allow steam to escape, then set it in the oven to roast. If using roasting pan reheat your oven to 325°F. then set it in the oven to roast.
Cooking time depends on the weight of your turkey, so be sure to check its weight beforehand. For a 14–17 pound turkey, the roasting time is about 3 hours. To ensure it's fully cooked, use a meat thermometer; the internal temperature in the thickest part of the breast should reach 165°F (74°C).
I highly recomend taking the turkey out of the oven every hour and bath again the to with the marinade. This keeps the turkey beautifully moist and gives it a lovely color and tenderness that’s sure to impress!
If you are using the Reyold bags the skin looks amazing with out any further step but if using aluminium foil for added browning, uncover the turkey for the last 30 minutes of roasting to achieve a golden brown finish.
After removing the turkey from the oven, let it rest, for at least 20 minutes. This allows the pan juices to redistribute, keeping the meat juicy and flavorful.
